About William Meyer, CDT — Roanoke's Dental Lab Craftsman

William Meyer didn’t set out to build a dental lab. He set out to build dentures that fit — the kind that let people eat, speak, and smile without a second thought. The lab came later, out of necessity.

After years of working in dental laboratories and studying the craft of removable prosthetics, William earned his Certified Dental Technician credential from the National Board for Certification in Dental Laboratory Technology. It’s a distinction held by fewer than 15% of dental technicians in the United States — a rigorous combination of written examination, hands-on practical testing, and ongoing continuing education.

In 2018, William founded Masons View Dental Laboratory from his home in the Blue Ridge mountains of Roanoke, Virginia. The name comes from his street — Masons View Lane — and it stuck because it captures what the lab is about: a clear view of the work, done with care, from a place that matters to him.

Today, Masons View serves dental offices across Roanoke, Christiansburg, and Lynchburg. William personally fabricates or supervises every case. His approach is simple: do removables exceptionally well, communicate honestly with the offices he serves, and never cut corners on fit.

William has invested in 3D printing technology that allows Masons View to produce final prosthetics directly from digital scans — not just models, but the dentures and partials themselves. For offices using intraoral scanners, this means a fully digital workflow from scan to finished product, all completed in-house without outsourcing to external print farms.

When he’s not in the lab, William is in the mountains — the same ridgelines that gave his business its name.

What is a Certified Dental Technician?

The CDT credential is awarded by the National Board for Certification in Dental Laboratory Technology (NBC). It is the only nationally recognized certification for dental technicians in the United States.

Earning the CDT requires passing a comprehensive written examination covering dental materials, anatomy, fabrication techniques, and clinical understanding, followed by a hands-on practical examination where candidates demonstrate proficiency in their specialty area. CDTs must also complete continuing education credits to maintain certification.

When you send a case to a CDT, you’re sending it to a technician who has been independently tested on materials, fabrication, and clinical understanding — and who continues to invest in staying current.

The Masons View Difference

Specialty focus on removable prosthetics

Specialty focus

We chose to be excellent at one thing rather than average at ten. Every hour in this lab is spent on removable prosthetics. That focus shows in the fit.

Personal accountability

Every case is touched by William. There is no junior tech in the back you've never met. When you call with a question, you're talking to the person who built it.

Personal accountability on every case
Local relationships with dental offices

Local relationships

We're a fifteen-minute drive from most of the offices we serve. Pickup, delivery, and a phone call when something needs to be discussed. Not a 1-800 number and a tracking number.
